Earthy, Natural Necklaces

I have made a few necklaces, but none that I have ever LOVED.  Well, I love these!  I thought I would share.  The first one actually started out as a bracelet.  I had it all finished and I showed my husband, who hates to be asked his opinion on my things!  Well, he thought it would look better as a necklace.  Then he started going through my things trying to find the "centerpiece" for the necklace.  Here is what became of it!
The focal point is the flower etched shell.  I made some earrings previously that would go perfect with this!
The rest is light colored wood beads, mother of pearl beads and shell discs.

After I made the above one, I wanted to make another!  I am hooked!  I am running out of beads quickly, so I will need to stock up.
The focal point of this one is a greenish grey shell.  It is one of my favorite shells.  For the shell beads, I alternated between brown/white mother of pearl and green mother of pearl.  The wood beads are darker on this one.

They are both 18 inches long and close with a toggle clasp.

I would love your opinion on these!

Humane Society Donation

A few weeks ago, I was asked to donate a few things to the Humane Society's Annual FUR~R~R Ball.  I am a procrastinator so I just finished up today, and they are due today!  I made a cute zippered pouch, a pair of earrings and a key chain.
The pouch measures 8 1/4 X 5 1/4.  Very roomy!  It has paws, bones and hearts and the colors are tan, red, brown, black and pink.
The key chain is made from shells and wood beads.

The earrings are mother of pearl discs.  They are smooth on one side and iridescent on the other.  They move when you move, so they are always changing!

All the items compliment each other perfectly!

Key Chains!

I have been creating some new key chains!  Most of my key chains feature things that you find at the beach.  Shells, pearls, wood, etc...  I love the beach, but I live no where near one!  If I could live beachfront, I would be so happy!  Sadly, my husband likes the mountains and snow better.  Every time I look at one of these key chains, I long for the crashing waves and the salty air.  Maybe one day!
Peachy Key Chain.  Shades of peach, pink, white, and brown.
Sunshine Key Chain.  Yellow shell paired with white pearls.
Swirl Shell and Wood Key Chain.  This is the first one I made and is still my favorite!  Not as fancy as some of the others.
Ocean Blue Key Chain.  There is a small white/grey shell at the bottom and then there are shells of blue above it.  The big middle blue pearl is so beautiful! There are swirls of white in the deep blue.
Fan Shell Key Chain.  A big fan shell in white and brown is the feature.  Above it are wood beads.  Very simple.

I would love to know what you think about my key chains!

Home Show

A friend of mine hosted a home show for me last Saturday.  It was great, other than the fact that I was sick!  I started getting sick a few days before and I was not up to par by the time Saturday came.  My friend lives an hour away, so it was good exposure for my business in another town.  It went well and I am happy :)  I am looking forward to doing many more.  It is so much easier to sell in person than online!  I didn't get any pictures once the party started, but here are a couple of the table before I rearranged it ;)

My Take on the Simplicity 2750 B Pattern

I bought this pattern forever ago and I just got around to trying it!  This is the first pattern I have ever worked from.

I made the purse, not the messenger bag...

And here it is!

I added 2 pleats instead of 4.  I like it better.  The only thing I do not like is the length of the straps.  The next time I make it I will make them longer.

I hate taking pictures of myself!  I had to cut my head off the picture :)

The color is really off on this one.  I really like it!  Simple and great for everyday.

There is so much room!  I added 2 pockets to help me stay organized.  I like how the white liner makes it easier to see everything inside.  I added some color inside with the pink pockets!

I am thinking of making some to seel in my shop.  What do you think?  Do you think they would sell?  It was a lot of fun to make!

Inspiration

Where do you find your inspiration for the things you create?

I sometimes get a feeling when I see some fabric or beads and I just have to buy them!  Most of my inspiration comes from nature.  I love flowers, wood, wind, grass, and trees just to name a few.

I found the inspiration for this cosmetic pouch when I saw the fabric.  My husband and I are planning a trip to Kaua'i in May and it is going to be kid free!  Grandma is coming to stay with the kids while we are gone for 9 days!  It is going to be awesome, but I am sure will will miss them lots.  When I saw the  fabric, I felt like I could feel Hawaii just by looking at the fabric.  I couldn't resist buying it and I decided I was going to make a cosmetic pouch just for the trip.  I absolutely love it!

And I have never been to Hawaii before!

I think the bright teal zipper pulls it all together.

What do you think?
